Happy Happy Eid!

Am currently reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. It is absolutely fascinating, and although its set in the 1800’s before the Russian Revolution and formation of the Soviet Union, it’s got me really interested in the revolution. Now gonna Amazon some books over for some bedtime reading during the term!

Just came back from Selayang, where my grandmother on my mum’s side lives, listened to guys from the nearby surau who came to the house for Takbir Raya and indulged in some Raya food and my aunt’s delicious teh tarik (best I’ve ever tasted!) Am sooo so so happy to be home for Eid this year, its been three years since I’ve enjoyed Raya at home and have to say there’s really nowhere else in the world I’d rather be! I’m back home now, but tomorrow after Eid prayers we will go back to Selayang to meet my relatives on my mum’s side, then around midday will balik kampung to Rembau, Negeri Sembilan where my dad’s side of the family will congregate. Coincidentally my parents are both from Rembau, just so happens that my mum’s mum lives in Selangor whereas my dad’s parents are still in Negeri Sembilan.

I absolutely love the little Eid traditions dating way way back to when I was a kid, most of all being surrounded by my family. If you’re celebrating this special day, hope you’re enjoying yourself wherever you are! Happy Eid everyone!
