Travel Companions!
When travelling, I feel that the company (or lack thereof), can make or break your travels. Some people prefer travelling alone as that gives you the benefits of being able to do anything YOU want to do, and the freedom to meet as many people as you like.  Everyone travels differently - my favourite travel companion (and bestfriend) and I share the same sentiment as to what our money should be...

The saddestsaddestsaddestsaddest thing about growing up is to see people whom you were once unbelievably close to, drift away (and if we were once close, even if I don’t say it because I’m scared its a one-way thing, I miss your company). It is also sadsadsadsad when you live abroad and know that you will not be permanently home for a loooooooong time still (at this point in time,...

Summer!!
So three days ago, I finished the last exam of my first degree. After a year of struggling and working out that I am really bad at Science/analytical thinking/making a Grant Proposal/anything that doesn’t involve being spoonfed, I have FINALLY finished my degree. Now my summer has begun and I leave for Peru in three days! Super crazy preparations though. Unlike last year, when we went to...

Can you believe its March?!!
I can’t believe how long its been since I’ve posted something here. Life has been ridiculously hectic these past few months. I thought this term was supposed to be my chill term and that last term was my stress-ey one- BOY WAS I WRONG. I’m in labs everyday from 9.30 to 5.30 (at least!), and my schedule is just insane. A night when I’m back home before 12am is a rare, rare...

Running for the Visually Impaired →
Samiko and I are running 21km for the Meadows Half-Marathon - Please help us raise money for the visually impaired in Pakistan to receive vision-restoring surgery! A life-changing operation that can save someone’s eyesight costs just 13 pounds- the price of a week of your daily Starbucks, a dinner at a restaurant, or the cost of a night out. Any amount is appreciated! Thank you Amira and...

Rants of an International Student at Maxed-Out...
The longer I stay in the UK, the more sure I am that I do not want to spend my whole life living in Malaysia - I want to see things I wouldn’t see on a travel channel, meet people with completely different mindsets and ideas - not impossible to have that by living at home, but given a choice, I would choose a path much less traveled than the average government scholar. On another note, I...

Happy Happy Eid!
Am currently reading Anna Karenina by Leo Tolstoy. It is absolutely fascinating, and although its set in the 1800’s before the Russian Revolution and formation of the Soviet Union, it’s got me really interested in the revolution. Now gonna Amazon some books over for some bedtime reading during the term! Just came back from Selayang, where my grandmother on my mum’s side lives,...

Bled!
Guten morgen from Munchen! Well so much has happened since my last post. The last three days in Bled have been absolutely phenomenal. As a single traveller I’ve realised one very important thing: Have an open mind, and good things will follow!  After many many hours in 33 C temperature sunbathing by Lesce Bled (I am now no longer tanned, more like the colour of hot chocolate), I went...

Eurotrip!
If you were travelling with a friend and he got Ill and had to go home, what would you do - stay on in hopes of a whole new different level of experience, or go home? Well, sadly this isn’t a hypothetical question for me and I’m powering through Europe alone - My itinerary has changed a gabajillion times because Thessaloniki and Istanbul are not exactly single- female friendly places...

Just got back to Edinburgh from T in the Park! I’m only staying in Edinburgh two days before I fly to Prague.. I like the fact that everytime I come back to Edinburgh the first thing I have to do is a massive load of laundry, I’ve practically been living in my suitcase the last month! Also just found out that D*Starz swept a MASSIVE load of prizes for Cheer 2010 which I’m...
